hair cuts & monopoly
It was bound to happen. And of course it happened the day before the first day of school. Naomi cut her hair. I always expected Ben to walk in one day with a chopped up hair do smiling at me and saying, "Look Mommy I cut my hair now you don't have to." And he still might because he hates getting his hair cut. However, yesterday was Naomi's turn. She lopped off the left front, from her bangs to behind her ear, and thankfully she cut it so the hair covered her ear. Actually if she was going for a bob cut with stylish razored edges she accomplished that really well.
So last night I gave the kids their back to school hair cuts. While I was cutting Ben's hair, I noticed he did have a chunk missing from the top of his head (Naomi's doing), but being a boy it is easily covered up. Naomi was a little more difficult because she had given herself a mullet on one side of her head. It has taken 2 years to get her hair grown out to just below her shoulders. Doing the best I could I layered her hair and cut it just above her shoulders. Not bad, and this morning she looked cute with pig tails as she bounced off to school.
monopoly
One day during their last week of summer vacation, I sat down and played Monopoly with Ben and Naomi. This was not your typical Monopoly game. We used only one of the dice, the kids got a random assortment of money, our playing pieces were figurines from Cinderella and The Incredibles, and whatever square you landed on you got to buy something for whatever money you wanted to hand over (actually, my main motive was getting them to learn to count, recognize numbers, and learn to take turns).
We had a blast. It was the most fun I have ever had playing Monopoly.
